DO YOU WANT TO GET INVOLVED? If you live, work or worship in Melrose East we want to hear from you.
Melrose East Community, formerly known as "MALL CITY", was developed in the mid to late 1970's and was one of many vibrant communities in the Greater Metropolitan area. Located behind the Bon Carre Technology Center it once served as the home to young families and students of Southern University A&M College (SU) and Louisiana State University (LSU).
However, due largely to the years of disinvestment, the once thriving community has become one of the city's most disenfranchised, blighted and low income communities.Through the collaboration of community and city leaders the Melrose East community will soon become the crown of Mid-City Baton Rouge.
